During earthquake in 2005 & crisis of IDPs in Swat & Malakand UK Islamic Mission actively participated in relief & rehabilitation activities. During recent flood in 2010 UKIM tremendously contributed in rescue operations & shifted thousands of affected families to relief camps and provided them food & medical facilities.

After the devastating earthquake of 2005 thousands of children were rendered homeless and became orphans. UKIM with the help of Alkhidmat foundation established orphanages in Attock to provide immediate shelter to over 200 orphans and since then it is being run successfully.

Pursuing the same cause UKIM with the help of Al-Khidmat foundation Pakistan has planned to establish an educational / vocational school/ college for orphans to provide boarding, lodging and educational facilities from all over Pakistan specially accommodating calamity hit areas. It would be the extension of Orphan support series programme planned to be launched in the entire country.

Location
It is located on main Murree Express way, 15 Km away from Murree city and about 25 Km from Islamabad. It is a picturesque hill resort with moderate temperature and a great attraction for the tourists across the country and abroad.

Acquisition Of land
A piece of land measuring 10000 square meters has been purchased. A Wall all around the land has been constructed and a site office/residence has been established at site.

Academic Block
An academic block consisting of Class rooms, Labs, Administrative office, Conference room etc catering for 540 students extendable to 720 students has been planned. The capacity of each class room would be ranging from 30 to 35 students only.

Two Hostel buildings having accommodation of 500 orphans have been designed. This would include: Bed Rooms, Warden rooms, Common study rooms, Parents/Visitor’s room, Lavatory, Dining area, Indoor games room etc.

Since main market is located far from Aghosh therefore a small shopping mall has also been designed to cater for the immediate needs of daily life, i.e., Tuck shop, Grocery, Tailoring hop, Drycleaner, Barber Shop, Fruit / vegetable shop & Dispensary.

Residential Block
Since Islamabad City is 30 Km away from the Aghosh location therefore we have designed to provide residences for Principal, Vice Principal and Teachers so that the entire academic staff is readily available to students round the clock. Residences for administrative staff are planned in the Hostel buildings.

In the near vicinity of Aghosh there is no Mosque for the local population therefore in order to facilitate the local population and Aghosh students a gigantic Mosque with the capacity of 800 persons will be constructed. Total covered area of Mosque is 8,900 sft

In order to impart religious/moral grooming through guest speakers/scholars an Islamic Center has been designed which comprises of Library, capacious auditorium and the rooms for research scholars. Total covered area of Islamic Center is 14,000 sft.

In order to ensure best health care facilities for orphans and local population, a Basic Health Unit consisting of 10 beds has been designed to provide immediate Medical Support. Total covered area of Medical Complex is 13,800 sft.

Naveed Anjum
Naveed lost his parents, but Aghosh has taught him to aim high in his life. He’s now in the Pakistani Airforce.

The story of Noorul Ain is heartbreaking – she lost her both parents in the earthquake, but now she’s looking to the future and her aim to become a teacher seems possible because of UKIM’s commitment to education for orphans.
