The monsoon rains continue to devastate much of Pakistan with heart-breaking consequences for the poorest people. At least 249, including many children, have lost their lives by drowning, landslides, and other effects of the disaster. Over two thousand homes and even whole neighbourhoods have been destroyed or badly damaged, making many people homeless.
Much of Sindh, Azad Kashmir and other regions have been seriously impacted but Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, is the worst affected with sewage flooding the streets after four times the normal rain. Thousands of shops and businesses, and almost all crops in Sindh, have been flooded meaning people have also lost their livelihoods and source of food.
