Pakistan Floods Event

The humanitarian condition is dire as the situation continues to worsen in Pakistan. This will certainly result in more damage, loss, and, of course, pressure on the safer regions as people continue to seek safety and protection. The annual rainfall in Pakistan this year has been 10 times higher than normal, leaving a third of the country underwater. More than 600,000 people are living in relief camps, and over 1,000,000 livestock have died. The facts are disheartening, but we are holding on to Allah’s (SWT) rope; He is our hope.

The Situation in Pakistan

Heavy monsoon rains have left an area in Pakistan, equivalent to the size of the UK, underwater. From this, 33 million people have been affected, which equates to one in seven Pakistanis. Unfortunately, even with a death toll that exceeds 1350, the worst is yet to come. Not only have people’s lives been devastated, but homes, roads, and crops have been washed away, creating a trail of destruction throughout an entire country. Millions are susceptible to being trapped in buildings, falling victim to waterborne diseases, and even drowning.

The people of Pakistan need your help now more than ever, which is why we’ve organised our Pakistan Floods Event.

An Evening of Fundraising

Alhamdulillah, UKIM is on the ground working tirelessly, join hands with us to raise vital life-saving funds in an evening of motivational talks, Nasheed, comic poetry performances, and a tasty three-course meal.

Our motivational speakers will highlight how Allah (SWT) has blessed each and every one of us, and it’s our duty to share these blessings with our brothers and sisters in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Nasheed performances will bring us closer to Allah (SWT) and highlight our religious obligation to give what we can to those in need. Following this, some comic poetry performances will lift our spirits and encourage us to do what we can to uplift others. Last but not least, by eating a delicious meal, we will be made to appreciate the privilege of eating a nourishing meal and recognise the fact that people across the globe don’t have this same privilege.

As a result, our evening of fundraising won’t only help struggling people in Pakistan, but it will also heighten our awareness of others and mould us into better Muslims.
