The World Access to Local Masjids Remains a Challenge

For many Muslims, access to a local mosque is a daily struggle, especially in war-torn regions or remote rural villages. Whilst many of us have the luxury to walk to our nearest Masjid for prayer, others have to travel long distances to perform their prayer. In many areas, you would find no Mosque at all, meaning families, elders, and the sick are left isolated from any spiritual and social gathering.

Mosques offer more than just a place of worship. They hold space for educating children about Islam and the Quran, for uniting communities, and holding daily prayers. Supporting to build a Mosque can help restore this vital role in a community that needs it most.

Rebuilding Hope in Difficult Times

There are many places around the world where Mosques have been damaged or destroyed. The loss of these Mosques has impacted communities due to the sense of hope and togetherness being removed. It has been narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has said,

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.” [Bukhari]

Allah says in the Quran,

Our Impact So Far

Through your donations, we have been able to make a large difference around the world. With the generosity of our donors, we UKIM have been able to build over 300 mosques, serving over 60,000 Muslims in the last five years. Each mosque includes Madrasa for Islamic education.

Our Current Mosque Projects

Our efforts continue to expand through a range of important initiatives. A key project we are currently working on is to rebuild the Masjid Mahkamah in Gaza, a place of worship which has been destroyed due to the ongoing conflict. We are also working towards projects such as building small Mosques to serve between 150 and 200 people in communities that have been underserved.

We are also working on projects within the UK to build, develop and establish Mosques which can cater to the growing Muslim population. Each build a Mosque charity project that you support is carefully planned to make sure it meets the needs of local communities.
