Getting up and heading out to work in the morning will be second nature to most of us, yet for many people around the world, earning a living is not that simple.

A livelihood can provide much more than just dignity and self-sufficiency. For disadvantaged individuals, it can also provide a once-in-a-lifetime chance to break free from the cycle of poverty and change the lives of their whole family for the better.

In order to facilitate this, UK Islamic Mission offers vocational training and financial support to those who are ready, able and willing to work for a fresh start in life. The work may be hard, but the rewards are plentiful.

Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors, we aim to empower people in need – especially widows and orphans – and work towards achieving a reliable, steady income to sustain the individual and their household.

This is a hand up, not a handout.

Our current livelihood appeals include:

• Olive Tree Planting – planting olive trees to nourish the people of Gaza and provide a sustainable livelihood for Palestinian farmers
• Livelihood Skills Development – providing skills development training, interest-free loans, and the necessities required to get off the ground and kickstart a sustainable livelihood
