Mosques are places of peace, care and community – a refuge for Muslims
Situated at the heart of every Muslim community around the world, mosques are central to life as a Muslim. Indeed, the first act of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his arrival in Medina was to build a mosque.
To date,
UKIM will continue to provide these vital community centres for Muslims to come together and worship Allah"
In addition, we aim to make our Mosques open and welcoming to all, which is why we also open our doors to non-Muslims, providing the opportunity for any member of the local community to visit and learn about Islam.
Every mosque operated by UK Islamic Mission has facilities for sisters. As the UK’s Muslim population is growing, the demand for ladies and young women wanting a space for positive activities within the mosque is also increasing.
As a result of this demand for expansion, we currently have new mosques under construction in Leeds, Portsmouth, Sheffield, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Nelson in Lancashire, and Boston in Lincolnshire.
For example, our ambitious multi-million-pound West London Islamic Centre project aims to deliver vital services not just for the Muslims of West London, but for the whole local community.
Placing a particular emphasis on youth, education and community welfare, the Centre will engage well with its neighbours, both giving and receiving respect from the whole community.
As a profit-generating institution, excess revenue will be invested in the development and progression of the whole community. The Centre will also be environmentally sustainable, built to an energy-efficient design to minimise waste and carbon dioxide emissions.
So far, 70% of this project has been completed, Alhamdulillah.
