Umm-Al-Qura calendar

Every Eid al-Adha, UKIM are working on the ground with one clear focus, which is to make sure your Qurbani reaches families who genuinely need it. Your sacrifice is not handled as a routine process. It is something we carry with responsibility, knowing that for many families, this will be the only time in the year they have access to fresh meat.

In many of the communities we serve, buying meat is not very common. It is something families simply cannot budget for, even when food itself is already limited. When your Qurbani reaches these households, it changes what their Eid looks like. It allows them to cook proper meals, to share food within the family, and to take part in the day in a way that feels complete.

In 2025, your Qurbani helped us reach 232,166 people across 31,738 families, providing 634,760 meals. These numbers matter because they reflect real households. Families who were able to sit together and eat without having to worry about whether they could afford it. That is the outcome when Qurbani is handled carefully and delivered where it is actually needed.

What Family Qurbani Really Means?

There is a common assumption that one Qurbani equals one family. It isn’tbecause assigning each sacrifice to a single household would significantly reduce how many struggling families can be reached. By dividing each Qurbani into portions, we are able to reach multiple households instead of limiting the benefit to just one. Each household receives a share that is practical, meaning they get something they can cook and use over several meals.

For a family receiving Qurbani, the meat is not limited to a single day. It is used over several days, with meals prepared and shared across the household. This allows the entire family to benefit in a practical and consistent way.

How Many Qurbani Per Family?

Instead of trying to assign a fixed number of Qurbani to each family, our main focus is on how each sacrifice can be divided so that multiple households receive a meaningful share.

We focus on reaching as many households as possible without reducing the usefulness of what they receive. A single Qurbani contributes to feeding multiple families, while each family receives enough to prepare proper meals.

Donate Qurbani Meat to Feed a Family

When you choose to donate Qurbani meat to feed a family through us, the process is handled properly. We take responsibility for every stage so that you do not have to question where your Qurbani went or how it was managed.

We make sure animals are healthy and in good condition, in line with Islamic requirements. The sacrifice is carried out within the correct days of Eid. The meat is then distributed fresh, in portions that families can realistically use.

What matters most to us is that the food reaches households in a way that is actually helpful.

The Measurable Impact of Qurbani Meat on Families

The impact of your Qurbani can be seen straight away in how families are able to eat in the days that follow.

When meat reaches a household, it changes what they can cook and how they plan their meals in the coming days. Food becomes more filling, and diets include proper nutrition that is otherwise difficult to maintain, especially for children who rarely have access to protein.

It also reduces immediate financial pressure. When a family receives Qurbani meat, they are not forced to spend their limited income on food during that time. This allows them to use that money for other essential needs, such as basic groceries, school expenses, or household costs.

Charity Case Studies: How We Ensure It Reaches the Right Families

We do not leave distribution to chance. Our teams work closely within communities to identify households that genuinely need support. This means that every decision is based on real conditions on the ground.

We prioritise families living in povertywidows and female-led householdsorphans and children without stable support, and communities affected by crisis or displacement.

This approach makes sure that your Qurbani reaches people who rely on it, not those who are simply easier to access.

Extending Qurbani Impact Within the UK

Need is not limited to one part of the world, and neither is our work. Alongside international distribution, we also support families within the UK who are facing financial hardship. Through our iCare initiative, we distributed 1,335 kg of Qurbani meat through Food Hubs in 2025.

This allowed local families who are struggling to put food on the table to benefit massively from the sacrificeWith our Qurbani campaign, make sure that your contribution supports both global and local communities. We make sure that no family in need is overlooked, no matter their location.

Why Timing Affects How Many Families We Reach

When Qurbani is given early, we are able to plan properly. We can secure livestock at the right time, maintain quality, and organise distribution without pressure.

When donations come in late, everything becomes rushed. That limits how effectively we can operate and, in some cases, reduces how many families we can reach.

From our experience, early giving consistently allows us to deliver better outcomes.

Wider Community Impact by Your Qurbani

Your Qurbani does not begin at distribution. Its impact starts earlier, at the point where animals are sourced and prepared.

We purchase livestock locally wherever possible. This means farmers and small traders are paid directly within their own markets, often during a period when demand is really important for their income. For many of them, this seasonal demand is a key part of sustaining their livelihood.

Qurbani requires people to handle, prepare, and distribute the meat. This means that local workers are involved at each stage, from slaughtering to packaging and delivery. This creates short-term but necessary earning opportunities in areas where stable income is limited.

By the time the meat reaches families, the benefit has already passed through multiple layers of the local community. Households receive food, while others earn through the process that made that distribution possible.

This is what often goes unnoticed. Qurbani not only supports the families who receive the meat, but it also adds income to the same communities, supporting local systems rather than bypassing them.

What Happens After Eid

Our involvement does not end once Qurbani is complete. The same communities continue to receive support through our wider programmes. This includes food assistance, healthcare initiatives, and long-term development work.

Qurbani gives us direct access to the same households after Eid. The families identified during distribution are not left out of future support. They are included in ongoing programmes where food aid, medical assistance, and other essentials are delivered based on need.

A Clear Responsibility

Qurbani is not just about fulfilling an obligation. It is about making sure that what is given actually benefits someone in a meaningful way.

At UKIM, we treat every Qurbani as a trust. We focus on making sure it is carried out properly, delivered carefully, and reaches the families it is meant for.

Take Action

The need is already identified, and the distribution systems are in place. The number of families we can support now depends on how many Qurbani contributions are made in time.

With donation costs as low as £35 per Qurbani share, you can help feed families who would otherwise go without. Your Qurbani can provide meals, ease financial pressure, and allow households to experience Eid with dignity.

Donate through UKIM and make sure your Qurbani reaches the families who are waiting for it.
