Muslims around the world appreciate Fridays as a day filled with mercy and blessings. The day is valued in Islam and believed to carry plenty of spiritual opportunities. As believers, we are encouraged to increase our worship on this day to draw closer to Allah, along with attending Jummah prayers. Giving Sadaqah on a Friday is also a powerful way to seek the mercy and pleasure of Allah, giving you the opportunity to multiply your rewards by supporting the vulnerable.
At UK Islamic Mission, we strongly believe in making the most out of the blessings of Friday by transforming the lives of those in need, extending acts of kindness and lifting vulnerable communities.
Friday, the day of Jummah holds a large significance in Islam. The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) has said, “The best day on which the sun rises is Friday.” The day of Jummah brings the Muslim community together for congregational prayer and reflection, opening up an opportunity on a weekly basis to renew intentions and actions.
Allah reminds us in the Quran of the importance of giving, by saying “Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over…” [Quran 2:245]. Sadaqah in this sense is described as a loan to Allah that will be returned with an increase. The more generously we give for the sake of Allah, the more we are trusting in His promise of reward.
Though giving Sadaqah is an act that can be done at any time, the Friday Sadaqah carries its own unique blessings. We learn through the sayings of many scholars that giving charity on a Friday is more rewarding over any other day of the week.
Ibn al-Qayyim has said that Friday is the best day to give charity over the other days in the week, similar to the virtues of giving charity in Ramadan over the other months in the year.
Giving on the day of Jummah is not only a means to help those in need, but an opportunity to increase our own spiritual worth. Being generous on this day spreads virtuousness that returns to the giver in multiple ways, both in this life and in the Hereafter.
Giving Sadaqah has incredible spiritual benefits. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) has taught us that “Sadaqah extinguishes sin just as water extinguishes fire.” This Hadith serves as a reminder that when we give charity, we are doing more than just sharing wealth. We are purifying our hearts and shielding against our weaknesses. With every bit of kindness that we share, from feeding the hungry to donating to a community project, we have the power to transform lives.
It has been narrated that the Messenger of Allah said, “When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” This Hadith tells us of the rewards of charity when given in a way that can continue to benefit others long after we are gone.
Whether you choose to give a small sum or a large one, every donation given for the sake of Allah carries weight. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) has said, “The most beloved of actions are the most constant.” Giving Sadaqah on Friday regularly can nurture kindness in your heart and support our charitable work throughout the year.
Friday Sadaqah through UKIM can support projects that help families and communities in need. When you donate, you’re standing by people who are facing hardships, from poverty to conflict and crisis. Your contribution will help provide food, clean water, medical aid, education, and relief to those who struggle to meet basic needs. Most importantly, through your consistent giving, you will be reaping the rewards that Allah has promised to those who give for His sake.
Every Friday welcomes the opportunity for a smile to be shared, for a family to be fed, or for a child to be supported. All acts which are made in good faith create a lasting good for yourself in this world and the hereafter.
As you embrace your Friday Sadaqah, you must remind yourself that every act of charity is a chance to draw closer to Allah, to strengthen your faith, and to help brothers or sisters in need.
Donate your Sadaqah every Jummah through UKIM and make it a source of mercy and blessings for you and to the one you give.
