The UK Islamic Mission strongly condemns today's horrific attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester, which has claimed lives and left others injured.
Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community during this painful time.
"That such an attack should take place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it especially abhorrent," said Riaz Wali, President of UKIM. "This is an attack on all people of faith. Places of worship must always remain sanctuaries of peace, and we stand firmly with our Jewish neighbours in solidarity and grief."
UKIM is reaching out to Jewish community leaders in Manchester to offer condolences and support. Our branch, Khizra Mosque in Cheetham Hill, works closely with local interfaith groups and will continue building bridges of understanding and solidarity in the city.
We call on all members of our community to show solidarity, reject division, and uphold the values of peace, mercy, and justice.
