[15 February 2024] - UK Islamic Mission (UKIM) proudly announces the commencement of the 2024 Ramadan Unity Iftaar initiative as the auspicious month of Ramadan approaches. Unity Iftaar, the breaking of fast for Muslims during Ramadan, will be celebrated across the UK in UKIM's mosques and branches.
During this initiative, UKIM members will extend invitations to local residents, neighbours, council members, and public service personnel to participate in sharing food at sunset, signifying the end of the fasting day. Individuals interested in fasting will receive support and guidance upon registering their interest at a participating mosque and will be warmly welcomed to join the mosque community at the end of the day. This initiative aims to facilitate interaction among people from diverse backgrounds, fostering stronger relations and breaking down barriers.
Ustadha Ameena Blake expressed, "This is a great opportunity to join your local community and experience the blessings of Ramadan by accepting the invitation to be our guest for an Iftaar meal at a mosque near you."
This year's Unity Iftaar will take place on the 23rd and 24th of March as a collective national effort across UKIM. Moreover, mosques throughout the country will host other Unity Iftaar events, with announcements available through local press and social media channels. Alternatively, interested individuals can directly contact their local mosques to participate, as all are welcomed with open arms.
Mosques interested in participating and offering Unity Iftaar are encouraged to register on the provided platform. For information on participating mosques, please visit Unity Iftaar Website.
This initiative stands as a testament to UKIM's commitment to fostering community engagement and understanding, bridging gaps between different communities, and promoting unity during the sacred month of Ramadan.
