Since its establishment in 2015, UKIM The Lingfield Centre in Alwoodley, North Leeds, has become a vital hub for the local Muslim community—a place where people gather in worship, children learn the Holy Qur’an, families receive support and the wider community is welcomed through education, outreach and engagement.
Alhamdulillah, the Centre’s congregation and activities have continued to grow. However, its present facilities can no longer adequately accommodate the increasing needs of the community, particularly during Jumu‘ah, Taraweeh and Eid prayers. With approval now secured for a major extension, the community has an important opportunity—and a shared responsibility—to help transform the Centre into a more comprehensive religious and community facility.
The proposed development will provide:
A significantly larger prayer space for both men and women;
An enhanced Islamic school with additional classrooms;
A dedicated Da’wah Centre for education, outreach and interfaith engagement;
Free funeral support, including Ghusl and cold-storage facilities;
Multipurpose halls for conferences, community gatherings and additional prayer capacity; and
Separate fitness facilities for men and women, promoting health and well-being.
The estimated cost of completing this ambitious expansion is over £1 million. This is more than a construction project—it is an investment in worship, Islamic education, community welfare and the faith of future generations.
