How We Strive to Empower Orphaned Families

Here at UK Islamic Mission, our team work tirelessly both here in the UK and around the world for the betterment of local communities and those further afield.

All our work, events, and appeals are driven by the values of the Islamic faith, and one of the biggest aspects of this work is helping the less fortunate. Some of our most long-standing appeals focus on helping orphans and their families, providing them with all the essentials they need to survive, as well as dignity and hope for the future.

Around the world – in places like Pakistan, Palestine, and Somalia, as well as the Rohingya and Syrian refugees – orphaned children and their families have endured enormous suffering and hardship for many years through no fault of their own. Your assistance has empowered many of these orphaned families across the world.

How we Help Orphaned Families Get Back on their Feet

We have three ongoing Orphan appeals as part of our mission to help the less fortunate. You can learn more about each of these appeals, how you can get involved and why they matter by reading below.

Sponsoring an Orphaned Family

One of the ways that we ask people to help is by Sponsoring an Orphaned Family.

Losing a father is horrific for anyone, but when they are the breadwinner for the family, grief and loss soon turns into an ongoing cycle of poverty that for some can be difficult to escape. For those living in under-developed countries, this story is a reality that is all too true.

Following the loss of their loved ones, wives become widows and single mothers overnight. With limited skills to rely on and with no help from the government, mothers are forced to send their children out to work or beg, putting them in harm’s way.

For a monthly donation of just £100 or a one-off payment of £1,200, we can provide a family in need with essential care packages that include food and sustenance, clothing and shoes, healthcare, sanitation supplies and other essentials for survival.

We work with families in Palestine, Pakistan and the Syrian/Rohingya refugees to ensure that your help goes to those most in need.

You can make a huge difference to the lives of those around the world who have been through unimaginable horrors due to violence and conflict, only made worse by the loss of a loved one.

Sponsor an Orphan

Sponsoring an Orphan is another of our core appeals.

Around the world, there are 140 million orphan children who have suffered tremendous hardships in life. With limited financial or familial support, these children endure hunger, disease, abuse, and trauma, and these injustices happen all over the world. They miss out on the joy of childhood, receiving an education and the comfort of a permanent shelter and complete family unit. These vulnerable children need your help now more than ever.

There are numerous ways you can help us give these disadvantaged children all-important education, shelter, food, clothing and shoes. You can support children in Palestine, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Syrian refugees in both Turkey and Lebanon and Rohingya refugees. In return, you will receive regular updates about your sponsored child or siblings.

• You can donate to support one child; £30 per month or £360 per year.
• You can donate to support 3 siblings; £90 per month or £1,080 per year.

Your donations give orphaned children the opportunity to not just survive, but to thrive and break free from the cycle of poverty.

Orphanage Project

Our final appeal is the Orphanage Project.

In Pakistan alone, there are over four million orphans, many of which have been left to fend for themselves through no fault of their own. These vulnerable children are desperate for a safe place to live, to enjoy their childhoods and feel loved and cared for.

Our Orphanage Project gives these children a place to call home, as well as access to education and vital healthcare. Together, we give them hope for a better life.

We built our initial orphanage in Attock and it has been a huge success. As a result, we are now building another in Murree, which will house up to 700 children. These orphanages are staffed with qualified teachers to provide high standards of education, including learning about ethics, morals, and religion. In addition, we teach the children about health and hygiene and provide them with regular medical and psychological check-ups; this is alongside the extracurricular activities we include to ensure their learning remains fun and engaging.

This project is especially important for orphaned girls, many of whom are at an increased risk of exploitation, abuse and underage marriage.

With your help, we can turn these children’s lives around. There are a number of ways you can get involved with our Orphanage Project.

• Build a room or classroom for the orphans; donate £416 per month or £5,000 for the year.
• Provide a share in the orphanage; donate £82 per month or £1,000 for the year.
• Provide a share in the water system at Agosh Muree; donate £42 per month or £500 for the year.
