Somalia is facing a humanitarian catastrophe with over 6.3 million people in need of assistance due to drought which is leaving men, women and children with poor harvests and little water. Mixed in with civil unrest which has forced 3.5 million people to flee their homes, you will rightly be wondering what is being done to help Somalia through these difficult times.
UK Islamic Mission is doing everything that we can to help Somalians and the other innocent people across East Africa, who are living in poverty due to drought and conflict. We are distributing family food and water packs, sufficient for one month, and special baby packs to feed malnourished children.
There is much more still to do.
Your kind support goes a long way to help save the lives of many living in poverty in Somalia and around the world. In particular, your donations help children in Somalia and their refugee families, those who have been uprooted from their home and forced to flee either to other parts of the country or seek refuge in another country.
Families are leaving behind everything they know, not just because of the conflict, but also to search for clean water for their children to drink. To help combat the water crisis in Somalia, UK Islamic Mission has a Community Water Well Appeal to provide safe and disease-free water for drinking, cooking and washing.
£500
Buys a share in a community water well which will provide clean water for numerous families
£2,000

£3,500

We urgently need your support to continue saving lives of many who are without the necessities we take for granted. Could you imagine not being able to give your child safe water to drink?
Ignoring the crisis in Somalia is not going to make it go away and so many innocent lives are at risk. Six million people are living through this emergency every day; the people of Somalia can only struggle to survive as best they can.
UK Islamic Mission recognises the Somalia emergency and calls on the support of the Islamic community to help our brothers and sisters in desperate need. Donors can give anything they can afford through our Emergency Appeals page. Here you will also see UK Islamic Mission’s other global emergency appeals through which our supporters are also helping to care for lives in danger.
Even if you can afford to give just a couple of pounds, it will still make a difference and go a long way to helping someone who is struggling to survive. It may not feel like much to you but, to someone you will likely never meet, it could be the difference between seeing their children grow up or becoming just another tragic statistic. For example, just £2 can provide a nutritious meal to a hungry and malnourished child.
As we are a Muslim charity, UK Islamic Mission helps its supporters fulfil their religious duties such as Qurbani and Zakat which can benefit the neediest people in Somalia. It is our duty as Muslims to look after those who are most in need which is why we give donations such as Qurbani and Zakat every year to those who are less fortunate than us.
Without the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet (PBUH), we may have taken our blessings for granted and easily forgotten about those who lack safe drinking water, warm clothing and shelter. This keeps us grounded, remembering to look out for our brothers and sisters here in the UK and around the world.
Another way that we help Somalian communities is by passing on the teachings of the Qur’an through our Sponsor a Hafiz campaign. For just £29 a month or a one-off donation of £1,200 for a full hifz (covering 3.5 years), a child will be shown the light of the Qur’an and can then pass on that knowledge to their community. As a Hafiz sponsor, you will receive a personal profile of your sponsored child and regular updates of their progress.
The people of Somalia need your kind support today to help their struggle to live. There is no time to waste because, without assistance, the lives of many are in danger, especially the most vulnerable such as women and children who often lack any source of income. Due to the desperate conditions of poverty and conflict, these people suffer huge exploitation, the likes of which do not even bear thinking about.
Please donate to UK Islamic Mission today to support our effort to save lives in Somalia, as well as around the world.
